National Chairman hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former General Secretary, John Boadu, has alleged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has borrowed more money since coming to power than the opposition NPP did in their eight years in office.

Speaking in an interview with Kwame Tanko on the Ghana Se Sen Show on Monday, March 30, 2026, Mr. Boadu stated:

“NDC has borrowed more money since coming to power than Akufo-Addo and NPP did in their 8 years in office, and that is a fact.”

He added that while he has never wished for a government to fail, the greater the mismanagement, the more challenging it becomes for the NPP to correct if it returns to power.

“I know the work the NPP has done, the services we’ve provided, and the capacity we have. If we work together as a team, Ghanaians will understand us,” he said.

Mr. Boadu also outlined his extensive experience within the party, highlighting his rise through the ranks. “I have gone through the mill, I have served as polling station official, constituency secretary, regional researcher, election officer, party accountant, National Youth Treasurer, National Youth Organizer, National Organizer, and General Secretary.”

He recalled that in 2016, during a critical period for the party, he was entrusted with the responsibilities of General Secretary in addition to his role as National Organizer, overseeing the party’s entire operations.

On his achievements as General Secretary, Mr. Boadu said:

“Before contesting as General Secretary, I promised party members I would implement a pink sheet tracking system. After winning, I delivered, and in 2016, the party had its results within 24 hours. In 2020, we went even further.”

He noted that despite these accomplishments, some party members failed to recognize his contributions, claiming that a General Secretary does not need to sit in the office to be effective.

Mr. Boadu emphasized that if elected National Chairman, he will create a peaceful environment within the party, allowing members to work efficiently while building on the NPP’s achievements.
