Arsenal Surrender Two-Goal Lead in Dramatic Draw at Wolves
Late Wolves comeback dents Arsenal’s title charge after defensive blunder at Molineux.

- Saka and Hincapie put Arsenal 2-0 ahead.
- Hugo Bueno sparked Wolves’ comeback with a stunning strike
- Late deflected equaliser leaves Arsenal five points clear.
Premier League leaders Arsenal let a commanding advantage slip as they were held to a 2-2 draw by bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, missing the opportunity to extend their lead at the top to seven points.
The visitors appeared in control early on. Bukayo Saka marked his new five-year contract with a fifth-minute opener, heading in a cross from Declan Rice to end a 15-game goal drought.
Piero Hincapie doubled Arsenal’s lead shortly after the break, finishing smartly from a pass by Gabriel Magalhaes for his first goal for the club.
But Wolves mounted an impressive response. Hugo Bueno sparked the comeback with a superb curling strike in the 61st minute, shifting momentum as Arsenal began to wobble following Saka’s departure for treatment.
The equaliser came deep into stoppage time in chaotic fashion. A defensive mix-up between goalkeeper David Raya and Gabriel allowed 19-year-old debutant Tom Edozie to fire in a shot that deflected off Riccardo Calafiori and into the net.
Frustrations boiled over late on, with Gabriel Jesus involved in a shove on Yerson Mosquera as Arsenal’s grip on the title race loosened. Their advantage over Manchester City now stands at five points, though City have a game in hand.
Manager Mikel Arteta will view it as a damaging setback in the club’s bid for a first league title since 2004, even as Arsenal remain in contention on multiple fronts — including a forthcoming Carabao Cup final against City and progression to the Champions League last 16.
For Wolves, however, the late fightback under boss Rob Edwards provided a rare moment of optimism in a difficult campaign. Despite sitting 17 points adrift at the bottom, their spirited display — highlighted by Bueno’s strike and Edozie’s dramatic first senior goal — offered encouragement to supporters as they prepare for a likely return to the Championship.
