Justin Frimpong Kodua, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a seasoned lawyer, has indicated his intention to seek re‑election as the party’s General Secretary, signalling his commitment to continue the work he began in strengthening party structures and unity.

Kodua, who has served as General Secretary since winning the position at the NPP’s national delegates conference, said he remains dedicated to advancing the party’s organisational goals and ensuring cohesion among members ahead of Ghana’s next major electoral contests.

Kodua emphasised the importance of unity and collective purpose within the NPP, particularly following its recent presidential primary and broader internal activities.

He highlighted that his potential return to the role would allow him to build on ongoing efforts to tighten party discipline and improve coordination across national and regional leadership structures.

Kodua’s leadership has come at a pivotal moment for the party, as it navigates internal dynamics and prepares strategically for the 2028 general elections while maintaining relevance after its defeat in the 2024 polls.

He underscored that continuity in the General Secretary’s role could help sustain momentum in strengthening grassroots engagement, refining party processes, and fostering an inclusive environment for all members.

“We must ensure that the organisational foundations we have laid are solid and that our policies reflect the collective aspirations of our members,” Kodua said, indicating his readiness to contest again if endorsed by party delegates. “There is more work to be done, and I remain committed to serving the party in that capacity.”

He also reiterated calls for unity and discipline, urging party stakeholders to look beyond personal ambitions and focus on the broader mission of returning the NPP to governance.

If he formalises his re‑election bid, Kodua will join a slate of party leaders seeking renewed mandates ahead of internal elections scheduled by the NPP’s national structures.
