Bus Crash on Egypt’s Red Sea Coast Kills 16

At least 16 people have been killed and 28 others injured after a bus crashed on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, according to the country’s Health Ministry.

The accident occurred on Wednesday morning on the road linking the Red Sea towns of Dahab and Nuweiba in South Sinai Governorate.

Egyptian and Jordanian media reports indicate that some of those killed were Jordanian nationals.

The Health Ministry said 20 ambulances were dispatched to the scene to provide emergency care and transport the injured to medical facilities.

The cause of the crash remains unknown, with authorities expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The Red Sea coastal area is a popular tourist destination that attracts visitors from across the world.

Deadly road crashes remain common in Egypt. Authorities recorded nearly 6,000 road accident fatalities in 2025, with reckless driving and poor road conditions often cited among the contributing factors.

Last month, 18 people were killed and 30 others injured when two lorries collided in the northeastern Ismailia Governorate.
