KMA Suspends Erection of New Billboards Across Kumasi

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has temporarily suspended the erection of new billboards across the Kumasi metropolis until further notice.
The Assembly says the directive is part of efforts to enforce its outdoor advertising regulations and ensure a safe, orderly and properly managed urban environment.
In a statement dated September 1, 2026, the KMA directed billboard owners, outdoor advertising companies, managers and individuals who rent out billboard spaces to report to the Assembly for verification.
Affected operators are required to present valid permits and proof of payment of applicable fees for the 2026 financial year.
The Assembly has given operators 14 days from Tuesday, September 1, to submit the required documents and regularise their operations.
The KMA warned that billboard structures whose operators fail to provide the necessary permits and proof of payment within the stipulated period will be removed in accordance with existing regulations.
“All affected operators are therefore urged to comply within the stipulated period to avoid enforcement action,” the Assembly stated.
Operators have been directed to submit their documents to the KMA’s Physical Planning Department at the Adum Ministries area, near the Ghana Immigration Service Regional Command.
The Assembly said the exercise is intended to ensure that all billboard structures within the metropolis are properly authorised and that operators comply with the required regulatory standards.
