I Was Treated Well in Custody – Paul Adom-Otchere on OSP Detention
Former GACL Board Chair says he was held in a shared room and given a mattress and blanket.

- Adom-Otchere confirms no mistreatment during OSP detention
- Describes holding conditions as basic but humane
- Detainees had no access to outside communication
Former Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) Board Chair, Paul Adom-Otchere, has clarified that he was not mistreated during his brief detention by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
He was held in connection with an alleged revenue assurance contract awarded by GACL without following due process. Adom-Otchere was released on Friday, August 1, after meeting revised bail terms, having initially struggled to meet the original conditions due to the absence of landed property in Ghana.
Appearing in an interview on Monday, August 4, he described the facility as basic but humane.
“Nobody was maltreated. It’s a state facility. I was in a room with others—it depends on the number of detainees. You’re given a mattress, a blanket, and even clothes if needed,” he explained.
He noted that while detainees were treated decently, there was no access to external communication during the stay.
“You can’t contact anyone,” he added.
The Special Prosecutor’s investigation into the GACL contract is ongoing.
