  • The German champions had an earlier offer of £58.6 million rejected by Liverpool
  • Liverpool have been actively reshaping their attacking options this summer

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Liverpool to sign Colombian forward Luis Díaz in a deal worth €75 million (£65.5 million), including performance-related add-ons.

The German champions had an earlier offer of £58.6 million rejected by Liverpool earlier this month but have now succeeded in securing the 28-year-old after submitting an improved bid.

Díaz was notably absent from Liverpool’s squad in their 4–2 pre-season defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday amid intensifying speculation about his future. The Merseyside club has since granted him permission to leave their Asia tour and travel to Europe to complete a medical with Bayern in the coming days.

Liverpool have been actively reshaping their attacking options this summer, having already signed Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. They are also reported to be exploring a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Díaz joined Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022 for an initial fee of £37 million. Over three and a half seasons, he made 148 appearances and scored 41 goals. He played a key role in the Reds’ 2024–25 Premier League title win, netting 13 league goals and recording a career-best 17 goals across all competitions.

Bayern Munich, who secured their 34th Bundesliga title last season and led the league in scoring with 99 goals, are looking to reinforce their front line. Díaz’s arrival will help fill the void left by Jamal Musiala, who is expected to miss a significant portion of the upcoming season after suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle during the Club World Cup.

Díaz’s move adds further firepower to a Bayern side determined to push beyond last season’s German Cup last-16 exit and Champions League quarter-final elimination.
