Wolverhampton Wanderers have been relegated from the Premier League after eight consecutive seasons in the top flight.
Their relegation was confirmed following West Ham United’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday. Wolves, managed by Rob Edwards, remain on 17 points after 33 matches, leaving them unable to escape the drop zone.
The club began the season under Vítor Pereira, who was dismissed in November and replaced by former Luton Town and Middlesbrough coach Rob Edwards. Pereira has since moved on to Nottingham Forest, where he is also involved in a relegation battle.
Wolves endured a difficult campaign, failing to secure their first league victory until January. Since then, they have managed just two additional wins, including surprising results against Aston Villa and Liverpool.
The relegation brings an end to their Premier League stay since the 2017/18 season, sending the club back to the Championship.
Interim executive Nathan Shi acknowledged the disappointment, stating that supporters “deserve better” and assuring fans that the club would respond with renewed focus and determination.
In a further statement, Shi admitted the season had been difficult for supporters but pledged reforms aimed at rebuilding the team, improving performance, and restoring pride at the club.
