The Accra High Court has adjourned proceedings to June 11, 2026, to deliver a ruling on a motion filed by Ghanaian socialite Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, in his ongoing bid to resist extradition to the United States.

Abu Trica appeared before the court on June 2, accompanied by his legal team and spouse. His lawyers moved a motion seeking leave to file a supplementary affidavit in support of his application.

The application forms part of a certiorari action initiated by his lawyers, who are seeking to quash a ruling of the Gbese District Court that granted authority for his extradition to the United States.

US authorities are seeking the socialite over allegations of wire fraud and money laundering. Prosecutors claim he was linked to a romance scam network that allegedly defrauded elderly victims of more than $8 million.

His legal team is challenging the legal basis of the extradition proceedings, urging the High Court to overturn the lower court’s decision.

Counsel also asked the court to consider the evidence and surrounding circumstances already before it in determining the matter.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court adjourned the case to June 11, when it is expected to rule on the motion and determine the next steps in the extradition process.

The outcome of the ruling is expected to have a significant impact on the progress of proceedings against the socialite.
