Former Subin MP and aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eugine Boakye Antwi, has vowed to lead a sweeping modernization of the party, promising to discard outdated practices and make the NPP more competitive ahead of the 2028 elections.

Speaking on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, during an interview with Kwame Tanko on the Ghana Se Sen Show, Boakye Antwi emphasized that his vision goes beyond mere party management.

“It’s not about managing the party but modernizing the NPP and throwing away things that are archaic and outmoded. I am ready to lead that charge,” he said.

Boakye Antwi highlighted the evolving nature of politics and expressed his desire to position the NPP at the forefront of that change.

“Politics is evolving, and I want to lead that evolution. I am ready to make the NPP very competitive again. I have the experience the party can trust,” he noted.

The former lawmaker, who has served in virtually every party position except General Secretary, also stressed the need for discipline, strategic planning, and organizational reform.

“The party needs reorganization. All those holding positions whose tenure has ended must make way. The NPP has work to do,” he said.

Boakye Antwi further pointed to the party’s recent electoral setbacks as evidence of the urgent need for reform.

“It’s sad to know that the 47 seats the NPP had in the Ashanti Region have reduced to 40, and we now have just 88 MPs in Parliament. Sometimes you ask yourself, ‘Where did we go wrong?’”

Looking ahead, he described the 2028 elections as a “redemption story” and a chance for the NPP to stage a major comeback both in the Ashanti Region and nationally.

“2028 is the party’s story of redemption and comeback,” he added.

Boakye Antwi pledged to bring experience, discipline, and innovative strategies to restore the NPP’s prominence, signaling a determined effort to rejuvenate the party for the next electoral cycle.
