Fourteen suspects arrested for possession and distribution of illegal drugs

- 14 people arrested in a targeted drug crackdown in Eastern Region districts
- Three licensed chemical shops closed for illegal sale of controlled substances
- Large quantities of cannabis and other drugs seized
Fourteen individuals have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly engaging in the possession, sale, and distribution of illegal drugs in the Birim Central and Asene Manso Akroso districts of the Eastern Region.
The arrests came after a carefully planned operation conducted by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) in Akim Oda and Akroso, following weeks of intelligence work and surveillance targeting drug trafficking rings in the area.
Alongside the arrests, authorities closed down three licensed chemical shops found to be selling unregistered and controlled pharmaceutical products without the necessary permits.
Reliable sources confirmed that a large haul of illegal substances, including cannabis and a locally known drug called “red,” was confiscated during the raid. The quantity seized suggests the presence of a well-organized supply and distribution network.
This operation signals a strong renewed effort to tackle drug-related crimes in the region. NACOC officials emphasized their dedication to uprooting illegal drug trade nationwide and urged the public to report any suspicious activities.
NACOC also assured the community that this crackdown is just the beginning of intensified efforts to turn Ghana into a tough battleground against drug traffickers and their networks.
