The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect accused of making violent threats against police and military personnel in a viral video circulating on social media.
The suspect, identified as Opoku Emmanuel, was picked up on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region through a joint operation involving the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) and officers of the Jacobu Police Command.
According to police, the suspect appeared in a masked video in which he allegedly issued threats against security personnel and warned officers against attempting to arrest armed robbers.

He is also said to have threatened to kill any officer who confronted him, statements that quickly sparked public concern after the video went viral.
The footage prompted swift investigations by police intelligence and cybercrime units, leading to his arrest.
In a statement, the Police confirmed that Opoku Emmanuel is currently in custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be put before court in the coming days.
The Police have reaffirmed their commitment to dealing decisively with acts of violence, threats, and incitement against security personnel and the public.
