GNFS Rescues Crash Victims, Prevents Fire Disaster in Volta Region
Firefighters in the Volta Region saved two accident victims and stopped a domestic fire from spreading to nearby buildings during separate emergency responses on May 13.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Volta Region responded to two emergency incidents on Wednesday, May 13, rescuing crash victims and containing a domestic fire outbreak.
The first incident occurred along the Peki–Asikuma Road, where officers from the Peki Fire Station attended to a road accident involving a SINO tipper truck. Firefighters arrived swiftly at the scene and successfully rescued two male victims.
Later that day, the same team responded to a fire outbreak at Asikuma Zongo. A three-bedroom thatch-roofed house had been engulfed in flames, but firefighters managed to contain and extinguish the blaze before it spread to nearby buildings, preventing further damage in the community.

In a statement issued on Thursday, May 14, by the Volta Region Public Relations Office, the Service praised the prompt response of its personnel, noting that their quick intervention helped save lives and protect property.
“Firefighters managed to confine and extinguish the blaze in time, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings,” the statement said.
The Ghana National Fire Service also urged the public to remain vigilant and report emergencies promptly to support rapid response efforts.
According to the Service, early reporting of incidents is essential in protecting lives and property.
