(VIDEO) Landlord to Face Arrest and Prosecution Over Building Collapse – La Nkwantanang Madina MCE
La Nkwantanang Madina MCE says the building owner ignored structural warnings and will face legal action following the fatal collapse.

- Landlord to be arrested and prosecuted.
- One person died, four others critically injured.
- Structural defects were reportedly ignored.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), Ibrahim Faila Fuseini, has announced that the owner of a building that recently collapsed in the municipality will be arrested and prosecuted for allegedly violating Ghana’s building regulations.
According to the MCE, preliminary investigations indicate that the landlord ignored professional advice regarding serious structural defects identified during the construction of the building.

Mr. Fuseini explained that an earlier contractor or site engineer responsible for the project had reportedly raised concerns about the structural integrity of the building and highlighted several defects that required attention. However, the warnings were allegedly disregarded, and another contractor was later engaged to complete the project.
Authorities believe the failure to address those structural concerns may have contributed significantly to the collapse.
The incident has resulted in the death of one person, while four others remain in critical condition and are receiving medical treatment.
Speaking to journalists at the scene after rescue operations were conducted, the MCE expressed concern over the increasing disregard for building regulations and stressed the need for strict enforcement to prevent similar tragedies.
He revealed that the Assembly has intensified efforts to identify and remove unauthorized and unsafe structures within the municipality. As part of this exercise, four buildings that failed to meet legal and safety requirements have already been demolished within the past two weeks.
Mr. Fuseini emphasized that the Assembly will continue its crackdown on illegal developments and ensure that individuals who violate construction laws are held accountable.
He added that the planned prosecution of the landlord should serve as a warning to developers and property owners who ignore approved building standards and professional engineering advice.
Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations into the collapse as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
