  • Former Finance Minister emphasizes the previous administration’s prudent management

Dr. Stephen Amoah, Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, has asserted that the President John Mahama administration is reaping the rewards of the economic foundation established by the Akufo-Addo government.

Speaking ahead of the 2026 Budget Statement on Thursday, November 13, Dr. Amoah argued that the current government has yet to implement substantial policy interventions to influence the state of the economy.

“The economy is doing well, but the NDC government and this whole executive body have done virtually nothing about it. What have they done?” he questioned.

A former Deputy Finance Minister under Akufo-Addo, Dr. Amoah emphasized that the NDC government inherited a stable and well-resourced economy, and that the current economic performance is largely due to the previous administration’s prudent management.

“They are not underperforming, but they are still in the preparatory stage. Six months is too short to turn things around. The current economic performance has virtually nothing to do with the NDC government; it is the result of careful management by the previous administration,” he said.
