- Manager stresses focus on Champions League qualification and team performance over selection
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has declined to confirm whether Mohamed Salah will feature in what could be the forward’s final appearance for the club at Anfield on Sunday.
Salah, who is set to leave Liverpool this summer after nine years at the club, has been at the centre of growing tension following comments about the team’s playing style under Slot.

The 33-year-old Egypt international recently suggested in a social media post that Liverpool should change their style of play, comments widely interpreted as criticism of the manager’s approach.
When asked whether Salah would be involved in the crucial Premier League fixture against Brentford, Slot refused to give any indication about his team selection.
“I never say anything about team selection,” Slot said, stressing that his focus remains on securing Champions League qualification.
Liverpool need at least a point to confirm their place in next season’s competition.
Earlier in the season, Salah was also omitted from a Champions League squad for a match against Inter Milan following remarks about his relationship with Slot, which he had suggested had broken down.
Addressing the situation, Slot insisted that his priority remains the club’s success rather than personal issues.
“I don’t think it is that important what I feel about it. What is important is that we qualify for the Champions League on Sunday and I prepare Mo and the whole team in the best possible way,” he said.
He added that Liverpool’s disappointing result against Aston Villa had increased the pressure going into the final game of the season.
Slot also acknowledged the need for tactical evolution at the club ahead of next season, admitting he has not been satisfied with aspects of Liverpool’s performances.
“We try to evolve the team in a way that we can compete but also play the brand of football the fans, I, and hopefully Mo if he’s somewhere else at that moment in time will like,” he added.
Despite the speculation, Slot insisted that Salah’s comments do not undermine his authority and dismissed suggestions of conflict shaping team decisions.
Liverpool now head into a decisive final fixture with Champions League qualification and uncertainty over Salah’s involvement hanging over the club.
