President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang are expected to participate in the national clean-up exercise scheduled for Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, as part of government efforts to improve sanitation and reduce flooding.
The exercise follows recommendations by the Post-Flood Mitigation Committee after recent floods affected several communities across the country.

Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo said the President and Vice President will join Members of Parliament, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), traditional leaders, and residents in the nationwide exercise.
According to Madam Ocloo, the specific locations where the President and Vice President will participate will not be disclosed in advance. She explained that the decision is intended to assess the preparedness of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies without prior notice.
She added that all key stakeholders have been mobilised for the exercise and urged residents to actively participate in efforts to improve sanitation in their communities.
The Regional Minister said she will personally monitor clean-up activities across several parts of Greater Accra, including the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Ayawaso, Okaikwei North, Ayawaso West, Tema, and La Nkwantanang.
Branded “Green Heart” in the Greater Accra Region, the initiative will focus on desilting drains, clearing waste from public spaces and waterways, and improving environmental sanitation ahead of the expected heavy rains.
While acknowledging concerns that periodic clean-up campaigns alone may not permanently address flooding, Madam Ocloo said the exercise forms part of a broader government strategy to strengthen sanitation and enhance flood prevention nationwide.
