Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships in education following a meeting with a delegation from York University.
During the meeting, the delegation expressed the university’s growing interest in Africa, pointing to the continent’s youthful population and the increasing opportunities for academic exchange, innovation, and collaborative research.

The discussions centred on expanding cooperation between Ghanaian and international universities to encourage knowledge sharing, student engagement, and cross-cultural learning experiences.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang, who is an alumna of York University, described the engagement as particularly significant because of her long-standing connection with the institution. She emphasised the value of international collaboration and experiential learning, noting that exposure to different cultures and environments often leaves a lasting impact beyond formal classroom education.
She also reiterated the government’s readiness to support initiatives that create more opportunities for young people, strengthen educational partnerships, and connect students across borders.
The meeting highlighted the importance of educational cooperation in fostering global relationships and preparing young people for success in an increasingly interconnected world.
