A High Court in Accra has adjourned the ongoing legal dispute involving veteran Ghanaian actor Alexander Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo, and rival factions of The Base Movement and Base Ghana First LBG to Friday, May 15.
The case centres on a disagreement over branding, identity, and the use of the name “The Base Ghana First,” which both groups claim association with following an internal split.
According to court documents, Base Ghana First LBG broke away from The Base Movement—founded by Agya Koo—after internal disagreements in March 2026 led to the formation of a separate organisation.

The plaintiff alleges that the original movement continued to use the disputed name and branding on materials such as souvenirs and signboards, actions they claim are misleading the public and creating confusion among supporters and stakeholders.
The breakaway group further argues that key leadership changes and structural decisions were made without proper consultation, including the removal of some executives from official communication channels and the establishment of a new leadership structure contrary to agreed rules.

They are therefore seeking a court order to permanently restrain The Base Movement from using the contested name in any official or public activities.
Speaking on the matter, Agya Koo expressed optimism that the court process would help resolve the dispute and restore clarity within the organisation, while avoiding unnecessary tension.

The court is expected to continue hearing the matter on May 15 as both parties prepare for further arguments on the identity and branding dispute.
