Gold Fields Ghana and the Ghana Football Association have signed a two-year sponsorship deal worth $5 million to support several national football teams and competitions.
The agreement was signed on Friday at the company’s corporate office in Accra and will benefit the senior men’s and women’s national teams — the Black Stars and Black Queens — as well as the amputee national team, Black Challenge, and the Women’s Premier League.
Officials and representatives from the beneficiary teams attended the signing ceremony.

This marks the first time Gold Fields’ partnership with the GFA extends beyond support for the Black Stars alone.
Managing Director Elliot Twum said the inclusion of women’s football and the amputee team reflects the company’s commitment to inclusion and social responsibility.
According to him, supporting the Black Queens and Black Challenge aligns with Gold Fields’ Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, which focuses on responsible business practices, inclusive development, and gender empowerment.
GFA President Kurt Okraku welcomed the partnership, describing it as a major boost for Ghanaian football.
He noted that the funding would significantly ease financial pressure on the association and help teams prepare for major upcoming tournaments, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), and the Amputee Football World Cup.
