GFA to Submit Provisional World Cup Squad by Mid-May
Ghana Football Association confirms timeline for World Cup squad submission as preparations intensify ahead of the tournament.

- Provisional squad due by mid-May
- Final list to be named by June 1
- Visa processing improved for World Cup travel fans
The Ghana Football Association has announced that Ghana will submit its 25-man provisional squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup to football’s world governing body in line with official requirements.
According to GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum, the provisional list will be submitted by mid-May, with the final squad expected to be confirmed by June 1, 2026.
He explained that the process is part of FIFA’s mandatory timeline for all participating nations ahead of the tournament.
“We have to name our provisional squad by mid-next month, and then the final squad will be announced by June 1,” he said. “People are expectant. Some believe in the team, others don’t, but that is part of the process given recent results.”
Ghana’s preparations come amid uncertainty over the technical team following changes in leadership, with questions remaining about whether newly appointed coach Carlos Queiroz will retain existing backroom staff after the departure of Otto Addo.
Meanwhile, the United States Embassy in Ghana has assured fans planning to travel for the World Cup—co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico—that visa processing has been improved.
Acting Public Affairs Officer Matthew Asada said additional visa processing capacity has been introduced to reduce waiting times for B1 and B2 visa applicants from as long as 15 months to about one month.
He added that all applicants will still be assessed under U.S. immigration laws but emphasized that expanded staffing and services are aimed at improving efficiency ahead of the global tournament.
