Asiedu Nketiah says shifting voter priorities and development focus can help NDC gain ground in Ashanti Region

- Asiedu Nketiah predicts NDC and NPP will share Ashanti Region votes in 2028
- He says voters are shifting from party loyalty to development-based decisions
- Party urges unity and stronger grassroots efforts to achieve electoral gains
The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has expressed confidence that his party will, by the 2028 general elections, split votes evenly with the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking during his “Thank You” tour at Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua constituency, he stated that achieving this target would be a key focus before he retires from active politics. He emphasized that success would depend on strong grassroots mobilisation and effective political strategies.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah noted that the Ashanti Region, long regarded as a stronghold of the NPP, is gradually experiencing a shift in voter behaviour. According to him, residents are increasingly prioritising development and improvements in their living conditions over longstanding party loyalties.
He explained that the NDC intends to focus on completing inherited projects, initiating new developments in consultation with traditional leaders and local communities, and creating opportunities that directly benefit the people.
He further stressed that voters are becoming more discerning, making choices based on tangible development outcomes, improved livelihoods, and the delivery of campaign promises.
These factors, he said, give him confidence that the NDC can gain significant ground in the region and achieve a more balanced electoral outcome in future elections.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah also called on government appointees to demonstrate commitment and hard work in their respective sectors, noting that effective leadership is key to earning public trust.
He urged party members to remain united, collaborate closely, and support development efforts within their communities.
Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive for the area, Ibrahim Issahak, highlighted ongoing development projects in the constituency, noting progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, energy, the economy, and sanitation.
He added that the government remains committed to improving the living standards of residents through sustained development initiatives.
