Kofi Adams promises transparency as Ghana prepares for its fifth World Cup appearance

- Sports Minister Kofi Adams has promised full transparency, confirming that the Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup budget will be publicly disclosed
- The government will not profit from the team’s participation
- The number of supporters travelling to the tournament will depend on resources mobilised through the Sports Fund
Ghana’s Black Stars will have their 2026 FIFA World Cup budget fully disclosed, Sports Minister Kofi Adams has assured.
Ghana is set to make its fifth appearance at the global tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Speaking in an interview, Hon. Kofi Adams said the government will publicly share the World Cup budget, following the same approach used for the Black Stars’ qualifying matches, despite previous criticism from some members of the football community.
“We will make the World Cup budget public; nothing will be hidden,” said Adams, the Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency.
He emphasised that the government’s focus is not on profit but on giving Ghana what it deserves.
“This is not about making money. It is about giving Ghana what it deserves,” he added.
Adams also noted that the number of fans travelling to support the team will depend on resources mobilised through the Sports Fund.
“The funds we are able to raise will determine how many fans we can take to the World Cup,” he said.
The Black Stars have been drawn into Group L, opening their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England in Boston, and concluding the group stage against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
