Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has set November 30 and December 1, 2025, for the final mediation session in the long-standing Bawku chieftaincy dispute.
A statement from Manhyia Palace, signed by Chief of Staff Kofi Badu, expressed the Asantehene’s gratitude to both sides for their constructive participation during the mediation process.
“His Majesty praises both factions for their positive approach so far and appeals to all involved to refrain from actions that could undermine progress toward a lasting solution to the Bawku conflict,” the statement read.
The mediation, spearheaded by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is part of wider efforts to restore peace and stability in the Bawku area, where prolonged tensions over traditional leadership have resulted in loss of lives and property.
The Asantehene’s active role has been widely welcomed by traditional authorities, political leaders, and peacebuilding organizations across Ghana, reflecting confidence in his ability to resolve the dispute.
Observers believe the upcoming session could be pivotal in ending one of the country’s most protracted chieftaincy conflicts.
Manhyia Palace urged all parties and residents of Bawku to support the peace process, noting that lasting stability will benefit both the region and the nation.
