- Chief Superintendent Semenyo warns against illegal mining (“galamsey”).
- Nkwawie assembly members pledge cooperation and request anonymity for tip-offs.
Chief Superintendent Joshua Kwame Semenyo, Nkwawie Divisional Commander, has cautioned residents against misusing police stations as a shield to break the law, emphasizing that these facilities exist to serve and protect the community.
Speaking to Lawson News following the official operationalization of the Mpasatia Police Station on Sunday, November 9, 2025, Chief Superintendent Semenyo stressed, “Police stations are not tourist sites. They are built by the people to maintain law and order and to safeguard citizens.”

The new Mpasatia Police Station was commissioned by Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua, with support from Nana Okyere Karikari Asiamah (Mpasatia Hene) and Hon. Williams Yaw Darko, former District Chief Executive. The commissioning ceremony was led by Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo, the current District Chief Executive, on Friday, January 3, 2025.
In his address, Chief Superintendent Semenyo also issued a stern warning to individuals engaged in illegal mining activities, commonly known as “galamsey,” urging them to halt operations immediately.
Several assembly members from the Nkwawie district expressed their commitment to collaborate with the police. While pledging their support, they also requested that their identities remain confidential when providing anonymous tips to the authorities.
