Jean Mensa to Face Parliament Over Delay in Ablekuma North Election
EC Chair to update lawmakers on stalled election results and ongoing efforts to resolve the impasse.
- Jean Mensa will brief Parliament on the Ablekuma North election dispute
- Constituency has lacked representation for over six months due to result disagreements
- Minority caucus urges police to ensure security for safe re-collation of votes
Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, is set to appear before Parliament this week to address the ongoing dispute surrounding the unresolved Ablekuma North parliamentary election.
Since the December 7 general elections, the Ablekuma North Constituency has lacked a representative in Parliament due to controversies over the collation of results from several polling stations.
This deadlock has left the constituency without proper representation for more than six months.
On June 4, the Minority caucus officially petitioned the Ghana Police Service, requesting enhanced security measures to allow the Electoral Commission to complete the re-collation process in a safe and transparent manner.
Mensa will update the Committee of the Whole on the progress made so far, with MPs expected to press for clear timelines on when the collation will be finalized and the election results declared.
