The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has distanced itself from the recently announced 20% public transport fare increase, set to take effect on August 8, 2025.

According to the union’s Deputy PRO, Samuel Amoah, they were not consulted and only heard about the decision through the media.

He emphasized that fare changes require consensus among key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Transport.
