The Police Council has recommended a two-year extension for Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, allowing him to continue leading the Ghana Police Service amid ongoing reforms and national security initiatives.

Sources say the extension aims to ensure continuity in security management and maintain the progress achieved under IGP Yohuno’s leadership.

Appointed earlier this year, IGP Yohuno has been credited with enhancing police visibility, strengthening crime response strategies, and advancing community policing across the country. He was originally slated to retire in December 2025.

According to report, the proposed extension is expected to receive approval from President John Dramani Mahama. If confirmed, IGP Yohuno will continue overseeing key security programmes, modernisation efforts, and personnel development within the Ghana Police Service.
