At least seven students of a polytechnic in Zamfara State, northwest Nigeria, have been abducted by armed attackers in the latest security incident to hit the region, according to police.
The kidnapping occurred in the early hours of June 3 when suspected bandits raided an off-campus student residence in the Low-Cost area of Kaura Namoda. The attackers reportedly stormed the rented accommodation and took the students to an unknown location.

In a statement, the Zamfara State Police Command said the assailants escaped before security personnel arrived at the scene.
Joint police tactical teams and military officers were deployed immediately after the attack, but efforts to intercept the gunmen were unsuccessful.
Authorities say search-and-rescue operations have been intensified to secure the release of the students and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Zamfara State remains one of the areas most affected by banditry in northwest Nigeria, where armed groups frequently carry out kidnappings for ransom and attacks on communities.
