Twin brothers Atta Kofi and Ebi Wom have been arrested and remanded in police custody in connection with the death of 34-year-old Theophilus Gyamfi, popularly known as Kwasi KK, at Sefwi Boinzan in the Juaboso District, Western North Region.
The suspects have been charged with murder and are expected to reappear in court on February 9, 2026.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred following a confrontation at a river in the community. Gyamfi had gone to wash what was described as “gold” in the river when one of the twins warned him to stop, claiming the activity was polluting the water.
An argument reportedly broke out after Gyamfi refused to comply. The situation escalated when the second twin joined the confrontation, leading to a physical altercation during which Gyamfi was allegedly severely beaten.
He was initially taken home for treatment, but his condition worsened, prompting his family to rush him to the Juaboso Government Hospital, where he was pronounced dead en route.
The suspects reportedly fled the scene after the incident but were later apprehended by police to assist with investigations and prosecution.
