The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has distanced itself from recent comments made by Asante Akim South MP, Kwaku Asante Boateng, describing his remarks as “unfortunate” and inconsistent with the party’s core values.
In a statement issued on Friday, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong reaffirmed the party’s dedication to national unity, equality, and inclusiveness.
“The NPP reiterates its longstanding commitment to inclusivity, equality, and national cohesion,” the statement said. “Political membership and recognition within the NPP are not defined by personal attributes or identity, but by one’s loyalty, commitment, and service to the Party’s ideals and the national interest.”
Mr. Kodua emphasized that the NPP’s foundation rests on the principles of freedom, justice, democracy, and equal opportunity. He noted that the party remains steadfast in ensuring that every Ghanaian—regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, or social background—has an equal chance to contribute to national development.
“As a party of unity and progress,” the statement added, “the NPP assures the Ghanaian people that it will continue to uphold the dignity of every citizen and promote a political culture anchored in tolerance, respect, and inclusiveness.”
