August 6 Helicopter Crash Report to Be Presented to National Security Council on Monday and Made Public Tuesday, November 11

Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has confirmed that the comprehensive report on the August 6 helicopter crash will be submitted to the National Security Council on Monday, November 10, and made public the following day.

The crash involved a Ghana Air Force Harbin Z‑9EH military helicopter (tail number GHF 631), which took off from Accra at around 09:12 on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, en route to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region on an anti‑illegal‑mining mission. The aircraft lost radar contact and crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District, tragically killing all eight people on board.

Among the victims were Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment, Science and Technology Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed Limuna, NDC Vice-Chair Samuel Sarpong, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The investigation was led by National Security Coordinator Abdul‑Osman Razak, with assistance from the Ghana Air Force, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, and international experts.

Kwakye Ofosu said the report’s findings and recommendations, aimed at preventing future accidents, will be presented publicly during a media briefing on Tuesday, November 11.

“Very important week coming up. Tomorrow [November 10], the report of the August 6 helicopter tragedy will be presented to the National Security Council. On Tuesday, the details of the report will be made public at a media briefing,” he posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, November 9.
