Businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye has offered GH¢2 million to settle his ongoing divorce dispute with former wife, Joana Quaye, in a move aimed at bringing closure to the highly publicized legal battle between the two parties.

According to a letter from his lawyers, Sory & Partners @ Law, addressed to Dame & Partners, legal representatives of Joana Quaye, the settlement proposal is intended to restore peace and protect the wellbeing of their children and families.

The letter, dated May 7, 2026, revealed that although the High Court had awarded GH¢300,000 as alimony, Mr. Quaye was willing to substantially increase the amount in order to resolve the matter amicably and out of court.

His legal team stated that the offer was made without prejudice as part of efforts to settle all outstanding disputes between the former couple and avoid further legal confrontation.

The divorce case has continued to attract widespread public attention, especially following concerns raised over the handling of the matter by the trial court.

Earlier, Joana Quaye petitioned the Chief Justice and the Judicial Council over the conduct of Justice Justin Dorgu, who presided over the case.

According to the petition, the judge delivered final orders on January 20, 2026, but the detailed written judgment was only released on April 20, 2026.

Her lawyers argued that the delay came after the legal deadline for filing an appeal had expired, making it difficult for their client to properly review and challenge the ruling.

The petition further called for investigations into possible procedural breaches and questioned whether the handling of the judgment met acceptable standards of fairness.

The case has generated intense public interest due to disputes surrounding alimony, child custody, and division of property.
