The Accra High Court has set July 23, 2025, as the trial date for Prof. Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, former Board Chair of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), and Solomon Asamoah, former CEO.

The two are accused of causing financial loss and misusing public funds tied to the failed $2 million Accra Sky Train initiative.

Both defendants have pleaded not guilty and are currently out on bail.

In a court session on July 9, Prof. Akumfi’s legal team withdrew a motion challenging the charges, which the court then dismissed. Meanwhile, Asamoah’s new lawyer, Victoria Barth, requested more time to review the case.

Justice Comfort Tasiame adjourned proceedings to July 23, when the prosecution is expected to begin calling its eight listed witnesses.
