Ghana’s newly appointed Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has pledged unwavering commitment to the rule of law and strict adherence to the separation of powers as he begins his tenure.

Delivering his remarks at his swearing-in ceremony on Monday, November 17, he reaffirmed his dedication to protecting the Constitution and safeguarding the independence of the judiciary.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie assured the President and the nation that he will uphold judicial integrity, respect the autonomy of every judge, and shield the courts from any form of improper influence while championing accountability across the justice system.

“Mr. President, in accepting this office, I give my solemn word that I will uphold the rule of law, respect the separation of powers, and protect the Constitution. I will respect the independence of every judge and ensure the judiciary remains free from improper influence. I will also insist on accountability,” he declared.

With his assumption of office, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie takes full charge of steering Ghana’s judiciary and maintaining the credibility and strength of the country’s justice system.
