Police Nab 12 Suspected Drug Peddlers in Tamale and Tolon
Northern Regional Police intensify anti-drug operations, seize Tramadol and suspected Indian hemp in coordinated raid across Tamale and Tolon

The Northern Regional Special Operations Team, popularly known as Red Maria, has arrested 12 suspected drug peddlers during a major anti-drug operation carried out in the Tamale Metropolis and the Tolon District.
During the operation, police retrieved several boxes of Tramadol and dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp, along with other suspected narcotic substances.
According to a press statement from the Public Relations Unit of the Northern Regional Police Command, the exercise took place on Wednesday, April 22, at about 10:30 a.m. as part of a routine operation targeting illegal drug activities in the area.
The statement explained that the suspects were arrested for allegedly possessing suspected narcotic drugs and engaging in unauthorized drug-related activities.
The individuals arrested include Mohammed Shabu, 19; Abdul Rahman Rashid, 20; Zakaria Sulemana, 20; Alhassan Ibrahim, 20; Abdulai Manine, 20; Abdullai Jalil, 21; Abdul Rahman Hamidu, 24; Latif Hamadu, 48; Ibrahim Idrisu, 35; Adam Fatawu, 17; Abubakari Nayo, 24; and Iddrisu Mohammed, 34.
Police say all 12 suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations as efforts continue to clamp down on drug peddling in the region.
