The Ministry of the Interior has renewed the curfew for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and surrounding communities in the Savannah Region, effective Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 a.m.

The decision, formalized through an Executive Instrument on the advice of the Regional Security Council, aims to maintain law and order in an area that has experienced periodic tensions.

In a statement signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the government appealed to traditional authorities, community leaders, and youth groups to remain calm and address grievances through peaceful channels.

“Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and People of the area are urged to exercise restraint and use non-violent means to ensure peace,” the statement said.

Under the renewed security measures, residents are reminded of strict directives:

  • Firearms, ammunition, or offensive weapons are banned, with violators subject to arrest and prosecution.

  • No more than one person per motorbike is allowed at any time.

  • Wearing war regalia of any kind is prohibited.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to restoring lasting peace and urged full cooperation with security agencies enforcing the curfew and related restrictions.
