President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Denis Sassou N’Guesso, who has been re-elected for another five-year term.

The visit comes shortly after President Mahama launched Ghana’s flagship Free Primary Healthcare Programme in Dodowa on Wednesday, April 15.

He is expected to join several African heads of state and senior officials at Thursday morning’s ceremony, which officially marks the beginning of President Sassou N’Guesso’s new term in office.

The trip is also viewed as part of Ghana’s broader diplomatic drive to strengthen political and economic ties across the continent, particularly with countries in Central Africa.

President Mahama is expected to return to Accra later the same day after the inauguration.
