Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its failure to release funding for feeding grants to Nursing and Midwifery Training Institutions.

According to Dr. Prempeh, the NPP government inherited a two-year arrears in feeding grants for these institutions, making it challenging for them to operate effectively during the tenure of former President John Dramani Mahama’s NDC government. He believes this showcases the NDC’s incompetence in managing the country.

He emphasized that this situation highlights the NDC’s and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama’s, incompetence over the years.

Addressing students at Ankafo Nursing and Midwifery Training, Dr. Prempeh pointed out that it was the NPP that cleared the arrears and restored the Nursing Trainee Allowance.

He praised the NPP’s commitment to serving Ghana with good policies and urged the students to vote for the party in the 2024 polls.

Dr. Prempeh’s statement comes after the NPP restored the nursing trainee allowance, which was scrapped by the NDC in 2014.

The restored allowance benefits over 58,000 nursing trainees, with each receiving the allowance effective September 1, 2017.

The NPP’s efforts to improve healthcare and education have been consistent, and Dr. Prempeh’s call to action emphasizes the party’s dedication to Ghana’s development.
