Bayern Munich Begin Talks Over Kane Contract Extension
Bayern keen to secure England captain’s long-term future after prolific spell

- Bayern confirm contract extension talks with Kane are under way
- Striker has scored 119 goals in 126 games since joining in 2023
- England captain chasing Lewandowski’s Bundesliga scoring record
Bayern Munich have opened discussions with Harry Kane over extending his contract, according to the club’s sporting director Max Eberl.
The England captain, 32, joined the German champions from Tottenham in August 2023 on a four-year deal worth an initial 100m euros (£86.4m). Since arriving in Munich, Kane has been prolific, scoring 119 goals and providing 30 assists in 126 appearances.
His impact helped Bayern secure the 2024-25 Bundesliga title, the first major trophy of Kane’s career.
“We’re talking to Harry, we’re talking,” Eberl said at a Bundesliga event in Frankfurt. “Everyone knows at some point a decision has to be made.”
Kane previously indicated he was open to a long-term future in Germany, saying in October that he could “definitely” see himself staying at Bayern and that his desire to return to the Premier League had “gone down a little bit”.
This season, Kane has scored 34 goals in 30 games for Vincent Kompany’s side, including 21 in 19 Bundesliga matches. He is chasing former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single Bundesliga campaign.
Kane has also played a key role in Bayern’s Champions League run, helping them sit second in the group phase table with one game remaining.
Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen said there was no urgency to conclude talks, adding: “Harry has great confidence in us and he feels comfortable in Munich. He and his family are settled in, so we’ve got absolutely no reason to rush.”
