The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has warned engineers and technical officers in the power sector against allowing politics to influence their work.

He stated that professionals who want to pursue politics should resign from engineering and join political office.

The minister made the remarks during a mini engagement with staff and engineers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in Kumasi ahead of a working tour of ongoing power projects in the Ashanti Region.

Together with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and ECG engineers, the minister inspected major electricity infrastructure projects including the transformer upgrade and replacement programme at the Ridge Substation, the Anwomaso-to-Boadi-to-Kaase transmission line project, and the Anwomaso-to-Airport transmission line works.

The team also visited the AKSA and CENIT facilities as part of efforts to improve power supply in Kumasi and other parts of the country.

Dr. Jinapor said engineers and managers must remain professional and focus on delivering reliable electricity services rather than engaging in partisan interests.

According to the minister, underperformance and actions that undermine the power sector would not be tolerated.

Hon. Jinapor further disclosed that the government remains committed to ensuring stable electricity supply in the Ashanti Region regardless of political affiliation.

According to him, even if residents in Kumasi do not vote for the governing NDC, they remain Ghanaians and deserve reliable electricity and development projects.

He added that his ministry would continue to invest in projects aimed at improving power supply across the Ashanti Region and the rest of the country.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, also expressed gratitude to the Energy Minister and his team.

He further assured the ministry that he would lead a public education campaign to inform people in the Ashanti Region about the ongoing developments in the region.
