Officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have rescued a three-year-old boy from drowning during a community engagement exercise at Nkawkaw Kwamang in the Eastern Region.

The rescue was carried out by the Visibility Team from the Nkawkaw Fire Station while they were meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Access Pub and Restaurant, Madam Asantewaa.

According to the GNFS, the officers spotted the young boy struggling in a nearby stream and immediately rushed to the scene.

Their prompt response enabled them to pull the child from the water safely, preventing what could have been a fatal incident.

The Service said the rescue highlights its commitment to safeguarding lives not only through emergency response but also during routine community outreach and public education activities.

The GNFS has urged the public to remain vigilant around rivers, streams, and other water bodies, particularly where young children are present, to help prevent drowning incidents.
