Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has announced new measures aimed at tackling the growing problem of fronting in business registrations involving foreign investors in Ghana.

The Centre said the initiative will include monthly educational programmes on radio stations across the country to educate the public on Ghana’s investment laws and discourage participation in illegal fronting arrangements.

Fronting occurs when Ghanaian citizens illegally use their identities or businesses to help foreign nationals bypass investment regulations and ownership requirements.

Speaking at a workshop organised by Transparency International Ghana in partnership with the GIPC on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Deputy Director of the GIPC, Michael Okyere, said the practice is negatively affecting the country’s revenue generation and weakening the objectives of Ghana’s investment laws.

He stressed the need for the public to fully comply with the legal requirements governing investments and business operations in the country.

According to Mr Okyere, the planned public education campaign is expected to improve awareness of the law and reduce the number of people engaging in illegal arrangements with foreign investors.

Meanwhile, the Head of Finance at Transparency International Ghana, Benedict Doh, explained that the workshop was organised to equip journalists with the knowledge and skills needed to promote transparency and accountability within Ghana’s investment sector.

He noted that informed and accurate media reporting on investment issues can help strengthen investor confidence and support efforts to attract more legitimate investments into the country.
