President Mahama Arrives in Tanzania to Mark African Court’s 20th Anniversary
Ghanaian Leader to Deliver Keynote at Ceremony Celebrating Two Decades of Human Rights Protection

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in the United Republic of Tanzania to participate in the opening of the 2026 Judicial Year of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, where he is slated to deliver the keynote address.
President Mahama landed at Kilimanjaro International Airport ahead of the ceremony and was welcomed by Tanzania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo. Also present were Ghana’s High Commissioner to Kenya, accredited to Tanzania, H.E. Paul Evans Aidoo, and Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, a sitting member of the African Court.
The ceremony, themed “20 Years of Service in Protecting Human and Peoples’ Rights in Africa,” will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Kibo Hall, Arusha, officially launching the court’s 20th-anniversary celebrations.
President Mahama’s presence underscores Ghana’s commitment to the rule of law, human rights, and the strengthening of African Union institutions. He was accompanied by senior officials, including Presidential Advisor Mrs. Joyce Bawa Mogtari and Legal Advisor to the President, Madam Marietta Brew.
