Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is receiving medical treatment after reportedly being injured in a shooting incident at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, on Sunday.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the incident occurred amid heightened tensions surrounding an ongoing leadership succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo movement following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

Witnesses alleged that armed individuals opened fire during a gathering said to be linked to efforts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the successor to the late founder.

Although details remain unconfirmed, reports indicate that approximately 15 rounds of ammunition were discharged during the confrontation.

Sources close to Adwoa Safo claim that a bullet grazed her near the neck. She was subsequently taken for medical attention and is reportedly in stable condition.

The incident comes against the backdrop of an escalating dispute within the Kristo Asafo family over succession arrangements following the passing of Apostle Kwadwo Safo. The matter has reportedly resulted in legal challenges, with some family members contesting moves to elevate Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena to the leadership of the organisation.

The Ghana Police Service has not yet issued an official statement on the incident. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting and determine the facts of the case.
