Court Injunction Halts NPP Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency Elections
Seven aspirants seek court intervention as legal battle delays the party’s constituency executive polls

- Court halts NPP constituency election
- Seven aspirants file injunction suit
- Case returns on July 17.
The Sefwi Wiawso High Court in the Western North Region has placed an injunction on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency Executive Election, which was scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026.
The court’s decision follows an interlocutory injunction application filed by seven individuals contesting various positions in the constituency election.
The suit was filed against several NPP officials, including the party’s National Chairman, Director of Information Technology, Constituency Election Committee Chairman, Western North Regional Chairman, Constituency Chairman, as well as the Regional and District Directors of the Electoral Commission (EC) in Bibiani.
At the second hearing of the case, Justice Oliver Atsu Abada considered an affidavit filed by Benjamin Armah, seeking to strike out the suit on grounds of alleged abuse of court process and failure by the plaintiffs to exhaust the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms.

The court also considered an affidavit in opposition filed by one of the plaintiffs, Ben Kumi.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court dismissed the application to strike out the case and granted the 4th defendant time to file an affidavit in opposition to the motion for an interlocutory injunction.
The matter has been adjourned to Friday, July 17, 2026, when the court is expected to hear the case on its merits.
