James Agalga Officially Takes Over as Majority Leader, Pledges Consensus-Building
James Agalga pledges consultation and cooperation with the Minority as he takes charge of the NDC Parliamentary Caucus following Mahama Ayariga’s nomination as a minister.

The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga, has officially assumed office as the new Majority Leader in Parliament.
His appointment follows a communication from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, notifying him of changes to the leadership of the NDC Parliamentary Caucus.
The changes became necessary after former Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga was nominated as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
Speaking after assuming the position, Agalga pledged to adopt a consensus-driven approach in leading the Majority Caucus and working with the Minority in Parliament.
He assured Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and the entire Minority Caucus that he would prioritise consultation and compromise where necessary to enable Parliament to effectively discharge its responsibilities.
Agalga said he would engage the Minority while ensuring that the government’s Reset Agenda is advanced for the benefit of Ghanaians.
“We can make compromises as and when necessary. And I assure you, I’ll give it to you. I would reach out, I would consult, but at the same time, I would work to ensure that the Reset Agenda of our President is accomplished for the betterment of all of us,” he said.
