Four persons, including a pregnant woman and her daughter, have been killed in a tragic road accident involving a Sinotruk HOWO tipper truck at Kinkinlin near Makango in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.

The fatal incident reportedly occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Thursday when a group of women and young girls were heading to their farms to pick shea nuts.

According to reports, five people were knocked down by the truck. Four victims died instantly, while the only survivor sustained critical injuries and was first rushed to the Salaga Government Hospital before being referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for further medical attention.

Eyewitnesses said the tipper truck, bearing registration number GB-2359-20, suddenly lost control, veered off its lane and crossed onto the opposite side of the road, where it rammed into the victims from behind before overturning.

The incident has left the community in shock and mourning as residents call for improved road safety measures to prevent similar tragedies.
