Kwaku Bonsam: Lasting Relationships Need More Than Spiritual Influence
Traditional priest Kwaku Bonsam says strong relationships depend on emotional connection, self-care, character, and intimacy rather than spiritual influence alone.

- Lasting relationships need effort beyond spiritual influence.
- Self-care and intimacy strengthen relationships.
- Character matters more than physical beauty in marriage.
Traditional priest Kwaku Bonsam has advised couples to focus on emotional connection, self-care, and commitment when building strong relationships, stressing that spiritual practices alone cannot sustain a marriage.
He distinguished authentic traditional healing from practices that cause harm. According to him, true traditional healing is meant to restore and support people through the use of natural remedies such as herbs, leaves, and roots.
He emphasised that traditional healing should promote wellbeing rather than destruction, noting that he does not support harmful spiritual practices.
Kwaku Bonsam also spoke about the role of appearance and self-care in relationships. He explained that some women seek spiritual solutions to regain their partners’ affection, but he often encourages them to pay more attention to their personal grooming and presentation instead.
According to him, changes such as improving one’s hairstyle, dressing attractively, and maintaining good self-care habits can positively affect attraction and strengthen emotional bonds between partners.
Despite this, he cautioned couples not to base marriage solely on physical beauty. He advised people to value character, kindness, and emotional compatibility above outward appearance, noting that beauty fades over time while genuine love and a good heart remain important for long-term stability.
He summarised his perspective by encouraging people to “use heart to marriage,” stressing that emotional connection is essential for lasting relationships.
On the subject of intimacy, Kwaku Bonsam described it as a vital part of marriage, saying that dissatisfaction in that area often leads to tension and conflict between couples.
He concluded that successful marriages require effort on emotional, physical, and spiritual levels, with self-care, strong character, and intimacy serving as key foundations for a healthy and lasting relationship.
