A 56-year-old security guard has been brought before the Asokore Mampong District Court over allegations of rape, extortion, and intimidation involving two female students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

The accused, Lloyd Kwaku Boateng, who works at Ayeduase Roman Catholic Junior High School, is alleged to have committed the offences in February and April 2026.

First Incident

According to prosecutors, the first incident occurred on February 13, 2026, at about 9:00 p.m. A 22-year-old student, whose identity is being withheld, had visited the school compound with her boyfriend.

The court, presided over by Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter, heard that the accused allegedly confronted the couple, accused them of misconduct, and physically assaulted the boyfriend.

He is further alleged to have seized their phones and personal belongings and demanded GH₵300 before ordering the boyfriend to leave the premises.

Prosecutors say that after isolating the complainant, the accused allegedly threatened her with public humiliation before forcing her into a classroom, where he reportedly assaulted her.

Second Incident

The court also heard of a second alleged incident on April 4, 2026, involving a 23-year-old student.

According to police, the accused again confronted the victim and her boyfriend at the same location, using his position to intimidate them. He allegedly separated the couple and detained the woman until the early hours of the following day.

Prosecutors allege that during this period, he threatened the victim, forced her to transfer GH₵150 via mobile money, and took compromising images, which he allegedly used to intimidate her against reporting the incident.

Arrest and Proceedings

Police say the suspect was arrested on April 13, 2026, after allegedly attempting a similar act on another individual. He was apprehended by a victim’s associate with the assistance of community members and handed over to authorities.

Medical reports for both complainants have been submitted, confirming physical trauma, according to the prosecution.

The accused has denied all allegations in his statement to police.

Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare requested that the court remand the accused while investigations continue, noting that case files have been forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Office for advice.

The court has remanded the accused into custody and adjourned the case to May 8, 2026.
